Manchester City faced Huddersfield Town in the third round of the Carabao Cup, and the game ended in a comfortable 2–0 victory for City. Although Huddersfield came into the match hoping to cause an upset, City’s quality and control showed throughout the 90 minutes.

From the start, Manchester City looked the sharper team. Pep Guardiola rotated his side heavily, making nine changes from the squad that played against Arsenal in the Premier League. Despite the rotation, the visitors dominated possession and set the tempo of the match almost immediately. City’s midfield controlled the game with quick passing and movement, forcing Huddersfield to sit deep and defend for long spells.

The breakthrough came fairly early. In the 18th minute, Phil Foden opened the scoring after finding space inside the box. His well-taken finish put City ahead and gave them the confidence to play even more freely. Huddersfield struggled to get out of their half for most of the opening period, with City keeping the ball for nearly 82% of possession in the first half. The Premier League champions moved the ball around with ease, creating openings down both flanks, though they could not add to their lead before the break.

In the second half, Huddersfield tried to show more attacking intent. They worked hard to close down space and at times pressed higher up the pitch. Their best chance came when Cameron Ashia struck the post, giving the home fans something to cheer about. However, those opportunities were rare, and most of their attacks were quickly broken down by City’s defense.

City, on the other hand, remained patient. They waited for gaps to appear and finally doubled their advantage in the 74th minute. Once again, Phil Foden was at the heart of it—this time providing the assist for Savinho, who calmly finished to make it 2–0. From that point on, the result never looked in doubt.

Huddersfield showed resilience and never gave up, but the difference in quality was clear. City’s passing, movement, and control of the game were simply too much to handle. Even with a heavily rotated squad, Guardiola’s side displayed their depth and professionalism, making sure of their place in the next round of the competition.

Do you think that Manchester city will win again in there next meet ?
