The countdown to the 2025 Ballon d’Or has taken an unexpected twist, with several Paris Saint-Germain players set to miss the ceremony. Their absence isn’t linked to controversy, but to a scheduling clash with a rescheduled Ligue 1 match.

The much-awaited Le Classique between PSG and Marseille, originally slated for Sunday, was pushed back after severe weather forced postponements across the league. Authorities have now confirmed the game will take place on Monday evening — directly overlapping with the Ballon d’Or event in Paris.

As a consequence, key PSG figures — including nominees Ousmane Dembélé, Achraf Hakimi, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Nuno Mendes, and Vitinha — are unlikely to attend the awards night. While injured players and non-squad members may still make an appearance, most of the team will be fully focused on preparing for the high-profile clash with their arch-rivals.
